Maintain Class window
Purpose
Use this window to create and update classes.
To access this window
Complete one of the following to access this window.
- On the Maintenance menu, point to Scheduling Maintenance and click Maintain Classes.
- Use the keyboard shortcut Alt, N, H, C.
- On the Scheduling window, right-click on a class and click Edit Class.

Item descriptions

Look for |
Enter a class to look for. The grid automatically moves to matching classes as you type. |
Class grid |
Displays any classes set up in AIMsi. Click one to populate the boxes on the right with information. |
Appointment |
Select an appointment type for the class. This field only displays if you are creating a new class. Appointment types are set up on the Add/Change Appointments window. |
Description | Displays the appointment type description from the Add/Change Appointments window. You can change this as necessary. Enter up to 40 characters here. |
Begin Date |
Enter the date this class will begin. To quickly enter today's date, press T on your keyboard. To quickly back-date or forward-date by one day, use the Hyphen key (-) and Equal key (=) on your keyboard (alternatively, use the Minus Sign and Plus Sign keys on your keyboard number pad). To quickly back-date or forward-date by one month, use the Page Up and Page Down keys on your keyboard. This box supports F6 functionality; the Choose Date window opens. |
End Date |
Enter the date this class ends, if applicable. The class is automatically removed from the schedule after the end date. To quickly enter today's date, press T on your keyboard. To quickly back-date or forward-date by one day, use the Hyphen key (-) and Equal key (=) on your keyboard (alternatively, use the Minus Sign and Plus Sign keys on your keyboard number pad). Member Type |
Displays the member type (group or private) for the appointment type selected in the Appointment box. You can change this value if necessary. |
Min | Enter the minimum number of students required to hold this class. |
Max | Enter the maximum number of students allowed for this class. |
Rate | Displays the billing rate for the appointment type selected in the Appointment box. You can update this value if necessary. |
Billing Type |
Displays the billing frequency or cycle for the appointment type selected in the Appointment box. You can update this value as necessary. |
Instructor* |
Select an instructor for the class. Instructors are set up on the Add/Change Instructors window. *The label of this field may not be Instructor. This is determined by the ScheduleTitle system variable. |
Area |
Select the area where the class will be held, such as Studio 1 or Classroom A. Areas are set up on the Add/Change Areas window. |
Fee Code |
Select the fee code for this class if different from the fee code set up for the instructor. This determines the portion of the Rate the instructor receives for this class. Fee codes are set up on the Add/Change Instructor Fee Codes window. |
(day of the week) | Select the day or days the class will be held. |
Start Time |
Enter the start time for the class and select AM or PM. The start time must be within the open calendar (system variable ScheduleBeginTime) and the selected instructor's availability. |
End Time |
Enter the end time for the class and select AM or PM. The start time must be within the open calendar (system variable ScheduleEndTime) and the selected instructor's availability. |
Alternate Week Scheduling |
Select this check box if the class takes place every other week. If you have a class that takes place every other Tuesday and every other Thursday on alternating weeks (Week 1 is on Tuesday, week 2 is on Thursday), create two classes. |
Category |
Select the non-inventory category to use to make ledger entries for this class if different from the category set up for the instructor. Non-inventory categories are set up on the Non Inventory Categories window. |
Item | Description |

Save |
Saves any changes you've made to the class. This button only displays if you've added or edited a class. |
Cancel |
Cancels any changes you've made to the class. This button only displays if you've added or edited a class. |
Delete |
Deletes the highlighted class. This button only displays if you're managing classes through the maintenance functions and does not display if you're editing a class directly from the Scheduling window. |
Add |
Clears the window so you can add a new class. This button only displays if you're managing classes through the maintenance functions and does not display if you're editing a class directly from the Scheduling window. |
Exit |
Returns to the previous window. |
